People before programmes
We listen first. The work follows what a person or a neighbourhood actually needs.
About us
The work started before the foundation did. And it still starts with people who care enough to show up.

Who we are
For years it was informal — a few friends taking career sessions at a school, arranging books for a student who couldn’t afford them, spending a Sunday morning cleaning a park.
In 2019 we registered as Jagriti Foundation so the work could outlast any one of us, take on more volunteers, and be accountable to the people it serves.
Jagriti means awakening. We use it plainly: most problems we meet are not caused by a lack of schemes or services, but by nobody explaining them to the person who needs them.
What that has added up to.
Through career sessions in schools and colleges over the past seven years.
Students paired with a member who stays with them through the year, not just one session.
Cleanliness drives held, adults taught to read, or students whose fees you covered — whichever you can count.
Registered in 2019. The counselling started years before the registration did.
How we work
Education, awareness, and civic rights.
Simple principles guide everything we do.
We listen first. The work follows what a person or a neighbourhood actually needs.
Nine members, no salaries. Everyone contributes alongside a job or a business.
We return to the same students, classrooms, and public spaces. Progress needs patience.
We would rather do ten things properly in one neighbourhood than one thing everywhere.
THE JAGRITI APPROACH
A little of your time. A lot of possibility.
A Sunday morning. A book. A conversation.
There is a place for you in this work.
